Phnom Penh Streets on Khmer New Year

I was quite anxious of getting out of my apartment because I'm afraid people will throw water at passersby. I read the news about the Kingdom's PM's notice for people to refrain from doing it. I think they have designated areas to hold the water festival, which is actually good.

I know, it's supposed to be fun. During my first year in Thailand, it sounds fun. I also had fun celebrating the water festival in Myanmar. But it also gets old. Sometimes, I just want to go to a convenience store without getting wet.

Yep, no water throwers.

Wat Maniratanaram Tuol Tumpung. Behind it is the Russian Market. I can feel the glare of the motorist in red as I am taking this picture in the middle of the road. On the right is a man cleaning the front of his house.

A nearby convenience store where I buy my groceries. It's usually hard to cross this intersection because across from it is a school and a lot of motorists pass by. Today is quite a slow day for the store.

Choul Chnam Thmey, Cambodian New Year, follows the Lunar Calendar, starting from the New Moon to the waxing moon.

Spirit house. Also very common in Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos.

A Jehovah's Witness's hall near my apartment. Some people are coming in.

No suits for today.

An empty food stall.

Closed. No guests?

This intersection is usually bustling with tuktuks, motorbikes, and cars on normal days.

An empty bar.

It's quite blurry because I'm not still not used to photographing people. A man is cleaning the street in front of his house. I saw a lot people doing the same, cleaning their front yard instead of hosing passersby, which is good.

Golden Shower tree known as Cassia Fistula. This is also a national tree in Thailand. They are beautiful in full bloom, comparable to Japan's pink Sakura Blossoms.

A solitary security guard at the last day of Khmer New Year.

I'm surprised to see this inconspicuous EV charger in a local coffee shop (also empty).

This is on the corner of the street where my apartment is. It was almost dark when I got back.

Lots of motorbikes parking but people are nowhere anywhere them.

Apartment kitty acting cute (there are three of them) after I gave them some treats.
